Scribe is a people-first company. We value the addition you’ll bring to our Culture as much, if not more than, your skills and previous experience. That’s something a computer or an algorithm can’t provide. So, we spend an extensive amount of time vetting each application, personally.
If you think you’ve found your dream job at Scribe, you may be wondering how you can make your application stand out. We’ve put together the following guidelines to help you as you begin the application process with Scribe.
Invest in the Process
Don’t rush the application process!
Please don’t just apply from your phone, thinking it will take 5 minutes. If you truly care about becoming a part of the Scribe Media Crew and want to drive your career forward, then care about yourself enough to invest the time in this step of the process.
The application questions we include for each career opportunity are there for a reason, so be sure to take the questions seriously and answer each question with intentionality.
Describe Your Results
As you describe past job duties, remove all of the fluff. Include the specific things that created actual results.
For example, if you led a company-wide transition from Google Docs to Asana, don’t just explain the tasks. Tell us about the impact it had on the company. Give real-life examples of the solution you created for a problem and what the solution did. Even if it didn’t produce the expected results, you can share why it didn’t!
We want to hear about your experience, see the process that you implemented, and that you dared to try something new. The bottom line: point to a metric whenever possible.
Attention To Detail
Attention to detail is critical when applying for your dream career, whether at Scribe or anywhere else. Here are some of the things we are looking for:
Answer authentically
During the application and job search process, people often feel pressure to craft the right answer as opposed to answering from the heart. That is the absolute worst way to get into Scribe.
We see right through it when you make shit up, or tell us what we want to hear. There is no right or wrong answer as long as you are being as authentic and vulnerable as possible in your responses. Give us answers that share how you process information, your level of intelligence, and how you think through problems.
Show us who you are, how you’ve grown, and that you’re committed to learning and growing more. Don’t worry about the length of your responses here; word count isn’t important. If you’ve removed the unimportant fluff, and if the question warrants it, feel free to go into greater detail with a longer response.
Ultimately, what we want to know is: who are you, as a person? Your skills and experience are certainly important, but we want to make sure that you will be a good addition to our Culture. Likewise, it’s important that you get to know us and who we are as a company. We’ve earned many awards that recognize our company’s Culture, and we write extensively about what this Culture means to us and how we live out our values.
If you are considering joining this Crew, it’s essential that you do your own research, and get to know us. Read about our Culture and consider whether we’re a good fit for each other. If you have something unique to bring to our Crew, we can’t wait to get to know you. View our open positions and apply today.
